About Rachel Elrom

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I have worked as an editor, content manager, desktop publisher, and publications specialist consistently since August 2008.

In that time, I have edited, written, and/or formatted nearly 1,000 separate products for various organizations. I have managed the production process of a publication from development to dissemination and have served in an advisory capacity to organizations and technical experts that are planning communication products, such as training materials, information packages, survey reports, and e-learning courses. And, I have developed multiple intranets and websites that center user experience in their design and presentation of information.

I specialize in client consultations to help determine the most-appropriate and cost-effective products to meet customer needs; training and coaching technical specialists, subject matter experts, senior/C-suite staff, and other writers and editors on a variety of writing and presentation topics, including public speaking; and crafting style guides and content strategies tailored to the unique needs and contexts of any organization.

I have received formal editing training and am experienced in substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, rewriting, unifying the voices of multiple authors, and editing the work of non-native English speakers. I can edit on a hard copy using proofreader’s marks or in a Microsoft-compatible file using track changes or highlighting. I also have some training in qualitative research methods and survey design and in intermediary and advanced techniques for word processing and graphic design software.

I am exceptionally skilled at using MS Word (in the process of obtaining the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert certification) and can lay out documents in MS Word in ways that mimic Adobe InDesign. In 2015, I added Adobe Creative Cloud to my repertory of software skills and services. This repertory extends to multiple content management systems, including educational software, website applications, and business development tracking sites.

I have subject matter expertise in the areas of Middle Eastern politics and culture, world religions (especially Islam and Judaism), intergroup communication, individual and group identity formation, heritage studies, collective memory, human migration, theory development, and qualitative research methods and have worked on pieces and projects in dozens of additional subject areas. I can pick up any content area quickly and seamlessly, ensuring that your project is always correct, clean, and of the highest quality.

I am always looking for new projects to support in a consultant capacity. As of December 2023, I am looking for full-time opportunities, as well.

I look forward to partnering with you!
