I have worked as an editor consistently since August 2008.
In that time, I have edited more than 250 separate products for various organizations. I have managed the production process of a publication from development to dissemination and have served in an advisory capacity to organizations and technical experts that are planning communication products, such as training materials, information packages, survey reports, and e-learning courses. I specialize in client consultations to help determine the most appropriate and cost-effective products to meet customer needs.
I have edited and produced in some capacity grant proposals, one-pagers, briefs, fact sheets, meeting minutes, PowerPoint presentations, Prezis, FAQs, success stories, program descriptions, quarterly and annual reports, handbooks, journal articles, literature reviews, technical reports, proposals, training materials, e-learning courses, and web content.
I have received formal editorial training and am experienced in substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, rewriting, unifying the voices of multiple authors, and editing the work of non-native English speakers. I can edit on a hard copy using proofreader’s marks or in a Microsoft-compatible file using track changes.
I am exceptionally skilled at using MS Word (in the process of obtaining the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert certification) and can lay out documents in MS Word in ways that mimic Adobe InDesign. In 2015, I added Adobe Creative Cloud to my repertory of software skills and services.
I have subject matter expertise in the areas of Middle Eastern politics and culture, world religions (especially Islam and Judaism), intergroup communication, individual and group identity formation, heritage studies, collective memory, public relations, human migration, refugees and resettlement, theory development, research methodologies, health, food security, nutrition, global governance and peacebuilding, health communication, social and behavioral change, and banking and microfinance.
